April 2012
Aloha Brethren,
The first quarter of the year has come and gone, marked by a string of activities and new initiatives, as well as expressions of brotherly love and affection.
March was a remarkable productive month. Following the stated meeting, we had three initiations, the painting of the century-old columbarium, a one-day officers’ seminar on the HMC, announcement of the Hawaiian Lodge college scholarship, and going “foot to foot” for brother Masons.
Congratulations, Bros. Andrew Holeman, Cesareon Caramanzana, and Daniel Bertubin on your becoming Entered Apprentice Masons. You have begun your Masonic journey; trek it with open mind and heart. We always say that in Freemasonry, you get as much as you put in. I, therefore, look forward to regularly seeing you in the lodge.
The repainting of the Hassinger Memorial Masonic columbarium was made possible by the determined collective effort of brother Masons who braved the heights, the hot sun, and the unpredictable weather. We remember scheduling the project a week earlier and postponing it because of the inclement weather. I like to thank WB Manny Aquino for heading this project and all the brothers who showed up and helped.
The one-day officers’ seminar on the Hawaii Masonic Code and Masonic Leadership was very informative. It was a day well-spent! I like to thank our primary resource speaker, MW Dennis Ing, for discussing Sections of the Code that relate to lodge management. I thank RW Rick Huston for his candor and wisdom as he spoke on Masonic Leadership. I also like to acknowledge the presence of the Grand Master, MW Monty Glover. Most of all, an educational endeavor like this is only possible with the attendance of willing learners. I am appreciative of the brother officers who attended the seminar.
The Scholarship Committee headed by WB Robert Schultz has released the application forms for the next academic year’s grants. The committee has made the grant open to the public, making it more accessible to qualified and deserving students. Mahalo for your great work.
Willingness to go on foot and out of our way to serve a Brother Mason is no doubt a high and genuine expression of brotherly love. I have seen this manifested this month -- in various occasions, including helping brothers move both in the terrestrial and into the celestial space.
May Brotherly Love prevail and every moral and social virtue cement us.
Fraternally,
Brother Raymund Liongson
Worshipful Master, Hawaiian Lodge
