July 2012
Aloha Brethren,
As we get into the second half of the year, I look forward to the continued support of the brethren and officers for the remaining programs and activities of the Lodge. A string of events are scheduled for the remaining six months.
On Sunday, July 15, we will have the annual summer picnic at the Shriners Waimanalo Beach Club. Do not miss this summer tradition. On the 25th, we will hold the Layman’s Night in the Temple. Invite every good men you know who have expressed interest in and curiosity about Freemasonry. This month, we are launching the “School Kits for Keiki” where we are going to collect donations of school supplies for students at Aiea Elementary School. This school services a large number of students from low-income housing units. Among the materials needed are slippers, paper towels, kleenex, chlorex wipes, hand soaps, hand sanitizers, pencils, spelling tablets, bottle and stick glues, color markers, backpacks, and others. We are also scheduling a clean-up and beautification at Aiea Elementary on July 28 (Saturday).
In the next couple of months, the Lodge will focus on the qualifications of officers for the coming year. The officers will be moving up a step or two during conferral degree work to prepare them for their respective roles next year.
I like to thank the members of the Hawaii Masonic Temple Association (HMTA) for their vision, dedication and expertise in bringing the Temple into what it is now. I also commend all the Brethren who have helped in every way to make our return to the Temple efficient and orderly. On another endeavor, I thank the Scholarship Committee for their work in selecting this year’s recipients. With 72 applicants, choosing 10 grantees required diligence and serious deliberations. And to our scholars, Congratulations! Keep up the great work.
Finally, on behalf of Hawaiian Lodge, I wish to express our heartfelt condolences to Bro. Steven Longwell, a member of Hawaiian Lodge, for the tragic death of his wife Stephanie, an active member of Daughters of the Nile. Let us remember the Longwell family in our prayers.
May brotherly love prevail and every moral
and social virtue cement us.
Fraternally,
Brother Raymund Liongson
Worshipful Master, Hawaiian Lodge
