November 2012
“Thanksgiving, after all, is a word of action."
~ W.J. Cameron
Aloha Brethren,
November 2012 is certainly an eventful month. On the societal sphere, we will have the following events: Election Day (6th), Veterans Day (12th), and Thanksgiving Day (22nd). For some cultures and faith groups, November 1, All Saints Day, is also the day to remember departed love ones. In our Lodge, we look forward to the November stated meeting (7th), International Night (14th), and 3rd degree conferral (31st).
That we have come this far this year is enough reason for us to be thankful. That we can look forward and plan for future events is an even more remarkable blessing.
I like to congratulate Bros. Cesareon Caramanzana and Daniel Bertubin for having passed through the “outer and inner doors.” You are now on your way to the final length of your journey to become Master Masons. I also welcome Bro. Dino Jay Fernandez into the fraternity. You have joined a worldwide society of millions of men who have likewise obligated themselves to the tenets of brotherly love, relief, and truth.
I thank the brethren and officers who have supported our programs and activities -- many of them novel initiatives that have demonstrated our creativity, dynamism, fortitude, and ability to collaborate with other lodges and work with the community. We shattered the shell of insularity, explored opportunities outside the box, reached out to brethren in and outside our Lodge, and promoted the good image of the fraternity in the community. But there is more to be done -- and they remain to be a continuing effort for us. We need to breakdown remaining walls of indifference among ourselves borne by factionalism, intrigue, and the vestiges of authority and power. Let us continue to strive for what is best for the brethren and humanity.
May Brotherly Love prevail and every moral and social virtue cement us.
Fraternally,
Brother Raymund Liongson
Worshipful Master, Hawaiian Lodge
