March 2012

Aloha Brethren,

February 2012 was a busy and productive month, and we foresee March to be the same. This scenario is only possible among a community of friends and brothers who share common principles and commitment. I like to thank every brother who stepped in and took leadership or participated and contributed their time and energy in translating our aspirations into reality. Mahalo!

I congratulate our  two new Master Masons, Bros. Jerome Cinco and Jameson Mariano, and thank the corps of officers who participated in their raising.

The Sweethearts’ Ball and Widows’ Night on February 11 was well- attended. I thank Bro. Kevin Perdue for coordinating the event, picking up the rose favors for our ladies, and  putting together the centerpieces. I also thank Bro. Pete Madrigal for entertaining us. His song, “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother,” sent a powerful Masonic message to all the brethren.

Our first participation in the Great Aloha Run was “a blast” -- to quote Bro. David Gomes, chair of the GAR committee. He and WB Gerry Mateo, co-chair, did an extremely well job in recruiting Mason volunteers and arranging the logistics. Some of the brothers even brought their families. Congratulations to both of you and thank you to ALL the volunteers. Outstanding job!

The Masonic Education on the leap day, February 29, was a great informational and education leap for us who were in attendance. WB Seth Connell, WM of Ko`olau Lodge expressed in his email: MW Dennis Ing's presentation on the topic of Masonic buildings in Hawaii was very interesting.  The history is much deeper and richer than what I knew.” We are very pleased and appreciative of the attendance of brethren from Ko1olau and Le Progres in this Masonic instruction. Thank you, MW Dennis Ing, for the very informative presentation.

A last minute call to volunteer and participate in the Puuhale Elementary School Dr. Seuss Read Aloud program gathered four HL Masons. WB Jun Colmenares, Bro. Richard Baun, Bro. Jerome Cinco, and myself enjoyed reading to the kids.

Next month will be a string of 1st degree work. Come  and welcome our youngest EAs. I also look forward to seeing you in our other undertakings.

May Brotherly Love prevail and every
moral and social virtue cement us.

Fraternally,

Brother Raymund Liongson
Worshipful Master, Hawaiian Lodge
